Technique
ASP Baton
Our 2 black belt instructors demonstrating these 2 techniques are: simulated defender (D) AJA Yodan Ibrahim Majeed (in the black gi), blocks mirror side and traps simulated attacker (A) Sandan Luis Tsuji's (in the white gi top) right hook punch with (D) left hand, then performs the controlled takedown with the tip end of the ASP expandable police baton strike to (A) right bicep/radial nerve, and pressing down and through for a takedown to (A) right rear corner and immediate pain compliance and ground control by locking (A) elbow joint with (D) right knee.
Second, in corresponding stills # 1854 and # 1855: (D) Majeed blocks cross body to (A) Tsuji's left jab from (D) left hand and seizes (A) left wrist, locking it, turning (A) farther to his right, and taking up a position of advantage on the outside line of (A) seized left jabbing arm. (D) closes the gap on (A), ASP baton butt cap end hook strikes and sticks to the inside of (A) left elbow joint. (D) then pushes (A) seized left hand, toward (A) face while pulling down quickly and strongly with (D) right hand toward (D) right hip, simultaneously pivoting on (D) left foot, and takes (A) around and down to (D) right rear corner to ground control. (D) Majeed completes the move by rolling (A) Tsuji over on his chest facedown quickly and locks his left elbow behind (D) left knee near (A) head, for pain compliance restraint.
Each of these professional police-based Japanese "Taihojitsu" techniques can be practiced safely and performed smoothly, at 1/4 speed, within 3-5 seconds, with some careful, diligent, and serious-minded effort.
